I hope you had a great month throughout April! Mine got off to an extremely slow start. Firstly, I took some time off over Easter weekend, which was really nice. Taking 4 days in a row off is something I haven’t done in a long time, and it was nice to get outside and stay away from screens for a short while. When I got back to working on Frontend Mentor, I had a not so exciting task to do: accounting. I had been putting it off for too long and because we moved into a new financial year, I…

Hello! It feels like the countdown to summer is well and truly underway here in the UK. The past few days in London have been really nice weather, and I’m excited about getting out in the sun!

It’s been another amazing month for Frontend Mentor. We even showed up in a newsletter called Exploding Topics that analyses search terms seeing massive growth! The community continues to grow at an amazing pace. We’ve welcomed 14,035 new community members on the platform and over 5,000 in the Slack community!

A huge welcome to all our new members 👋 I’m excited to get…

At Frontend Mentor, we have a precise aim: to help you get hands-on experience building websites. We believe the best learning comes from experiencing problems first-hand and solving them.

Our challenges are professionally designed to give you the most realistic development experience possible.

Beyond building projects, there are many ways you can level-up your skills and get the support you need on Frontend Mentor. This guide is designed to give you all the tools necessary to turn our community into one of your most powerful development resources.

So let’s begin!

Completing challenges

Our challenges are the cornerstone of the platform. Everything revolves…

Sharing your solution with the Frontend Mentor and wider development communities is an exciting part of building our projects. There are so many ways you could go about it, so we’ve created this guide to help you make a choice.

We’ve separated our options by “recommended” and “trusted” providers. Our recommended providers are selected either because of simplicity or because they’re professional tools that are good to know as a front-end developer (or both!).

Our trusted providers are other options for sharing your solution if you choose not to follow our recommendations.

Unfortunately, you can’t post your solution to the…

Hello! I hope February was a good month for you. A lot is going on behind the scenes at the moment. Most of the work I’ve been doing has been around planning for the next stages and beyond. So things feel like they’re moving a bit slower than usual with platform updates. Once plans are set, the pace will pick up again!

February was another incredible month of growth for the community. We had 11,628 new members join the platform. Also, over 4,000 people joined our Slack community, which took us to over 41,000 in the Slack community alone!

It’s…

Hello! I don’t know about you, but January absolutely flew by for me! The UK is back in a national lockdown, so every day has seemed to blend into the other. With vaccinations now happening at a good pace, it does feel like returning to some sense of normality is within reach. However, I’m not counting my chickens before they’ve hatched! I hope you’re managing to stay well wherever you are.

January was a busy month on Frontend Mentor. I’m guessing it’s a mixture of new year’s resolutions with people wanting to code more, plus I saw the site getting…

Well. 2020 is finally over! What a strange, challenging and draining year that was! As I’m sure you are, I’m really hoping 2021 will start to turn it around for what has been a pretty shocking start to the decade. 2020 set a low bar, so surely the only way is up from here! 🤞

It’s been a very bittersweet year for me personally. With all the madness happening in the world, it’s been hard to stay positive and focused. As I’m sure is the same for so many people, not being able to see family and friends and spending…

After 2-years of working on my side project Frontend Mentor, I’m excited to say that I’ve decided to go full-time on it! It’s been quite a ride since starting the site as a simple resource list for front-end developers. I decided to take a slow and steady approach to grow the site and the community while supporting myself financially with contract work.

After a number of experiments over the years, we launched our subscription in August this year. Current revenue since August is $33K with over $4.5K MRR. So I’ve decided that there’s enough of a cushion to take the…

Hello! I hope you had a great month throughout November! We’ve been back in a national lockdown in the UK, so it’s been a quiet month as far as any activities go. One area it hasn’t been quiet though is my teaching work. I’ve been teaching quite a bit throughout November, which has been great fun but it also means I’ve had less time to work on Frontend Mentor. When I finish the current course I’m teaching this week I’ll actually be finished for the rest of 2020, which will give me plenty of time to focus on the platform…

Hello! I hope you had a great October! It was a good month for me, although a number of things popped up that have taken time away from the tasks I was hoping to focus on throughout the month. I’ll talk about this more below, but when this does happen it’s always good to remind yourself that you’re still making progress. If you’ve got a goal that you’re working towards even small progress should be celebrated. It’s easy to set unrealistic targets and then put pressure on yourself to achieve them, but this is a fast track to burning out…
